The Australian Logrunner (Orthonyx temminckii) is found in the temperate forests and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests of south-eastern Australia. It is very localized in its distribution.
Until recently, this species was considered conspecific (of, or belonging to, the same species) with the New Guinea Logrunner, but the two differ significantly.
Description
The wings are barred with white, and the male's chin, throat and breast are pure white, but bright reddish-orange in the female. The remiges (= flight feathers - typically only visible in flight) are very short, rounded and much incurved; and the rectrices (the long flight feathers of the tail) are very broad.
