Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi and may refer to (click on links for more info):
- Acute bronchitis, usually caused by viruses or bacteria and may last several days or weeks
- Chronic bronchitis. Chronic bronchitis "is characterized by hypersecretion of mucus accompanied by a chronic (more than 3 months in 2 consecutive years) productive cough." Tobacco and infectious agents are major causes of chronic bronchitis.
