Digital camcorders have the ability to store and save photographs and digital videos on internal memory card or media storage. This card saves all of these images for you to download and install onto your computer. You can add more memory onto your digital camcorder, as needed.

Mini DVD camcorder differ from regular digital video cameras as they record video onto mini DVD discs, rather than DV tape. The advantages are that DVD discs are more robust than tape. Another benefit is that DVD discs are random access, compared to tape on which everything is recorded sequentially. Therefore, the users don't have to rewind and fast forward to find a particular clip. You can simply select it from the menu. Some cameras even allow you to perform basic editing functions on-camera. Users also like that they can easily watch home movies by removing the DVD from the camera and playing it in practically any DVD player. However, one disadvantage is that you need specialist software to edit the clips. Also the media is more expensive. If you don't mind these inconveniences, a mini dvd camcorder does offer extraordinary convenience.

Many of the camcorders functions are controlled through the touch screen feature of the LCD.
Screen: A bigger screen makes seeing what you are filming much easier then a smaller screen. Playback will also be much more enjoyable on a larger camcorder screen.
Weight and size: When comparing camcorders, the size and weight of the unit is very important. You will be far less comfortable and thus likely to want to use the unit if it is too heavy. This being said, smaller camcorders often have inferior lenses, less features and smaller controls
