Bird Health Care ... Bird Nutrition

AvianWeb Note: A treat can indeed be nutritious. Most of the bird treats that are available at the local pet store contain artificial flavoring / preservatives - which are chemicals that can over time harm your pet. Also, poorly calibrated manufacturing equipment causes "hotspots" of these chemicals, which basically means that the food you feed may contain unsafe levels of these chemicals that could poison your pet now. I really hope you won't take that chance.

Dehydrated fruits and vegetables - How nutritious are they? There is little to no difference in the vitamins and nutrients contained in dehydrated fruit and vegetable products in comparison to their fresh counterparts. Essentially, dehydrated produce is basically the same product, but with most of the moisture removed. The end product still retains a large amount of nutrients.

The below options are healthy, non-toxic and nutritious. You may find some, or all of the below items, in a better bird store near you (probably not in a normal "pet store" where less variety is offered. Most pet stores carry brands that are known for their heavy use of chemicals.) Alternatively, your local health food store should also carry quality human-grade, organic, unsulphured dried fruits, vegetables and herbs that will work wonderfully for your pet as well. If you are really motivated, you may want to do as I am doing - grow some of your own herbs, vegetables and fruits. I only started doing that about a year ago, but really enjoy getting such fresh food items out of my own garden.

The below can be mixed in with your pet's bird seed or offered in a separate dish. They are the perfect compliment to a diet rich in fresh fruits/ veggies and a high-quality bird seed mix. Remember, variety is the key ...

Herb Salad: Based on the principle of an animal’s ability to self-medicate in the wild ...

Herb Salad™ offers our birds the opportunity to prevent the illnesses and deficiencies that can arise from captivity. The ability to combat these concerns in their earliest stages, before we are even aware of a health issue, is invaluable.

Shipping is calculated "per item" (noted next to each item), however, in cases where multiple items are shipped, the cost of shipping (per item) goes down and your credit card will ONLY be charged with the actual shipping cost. Please feel free to request the actual shipping quote.
