Below is a listing of various bird-safe plants that will rid your home or office of not only carbon dioxide but also other toxins.
NOTE: If you have pets, please be careful about the potting soil you choose. Pets may eat the soil. Therefore, it needs to be organic (sterile) soil without toxic additives. Many of the popular soils (such as Miracle Grow) contain harmful additives. Of course, like the plant itself - the potting soil also needs to be pesticide free (as "organic" soil should be)..

Remove beneze found in inks, oils, plastics, rubber, dyes, detergents and pharmaceuticals

Remove formaldehyde found in particle board, plywood, foam insulation, grocery bags, room deodorizers, waxed paper, facial tissues, paper towels and some fabrics
Removes xylene which can be found in a variety of consumer products, including gasoline, paint varnish, shellac, rust preventatives, and cigarette smoke.

Remove TCE (trichloreoethylene) -- a solvent for fats, oils and waxes; a cleaning solvent used in dry cleaning operations and machinery maintenance as a degreaser; found in dry cleaning chemicals, printing inks, paints, lacquers, varnishes and adhesives
